The final part in Wes Ball’s adaptation of the trilogy of young adult novels by James Dashner, Maze Runner: The Death Cure sees Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) leading his fellow escapees on a mission to break into the legendary Last City and the most deadly maze of all. The film promises to answer all of the questions posed by the series and offer a thrilling conclusion to the trilogy.
Interestingly the screenplay has been adapted by T.S Nowlin who, in addition to adapting the previous entries in the series, is also the screen writer of the upcoming Pacific Rim Uprising. This film should demonstrate the writer’s ability to set a story in a dystopia science fiction future.
The series has been a consistently entertaining source of teen-appropriate action. Though never quite reaching the same levels of critical or commercial success as it’s clear direct influence The Hunger Games, the film, nevertheless, has an intriguing premise, an interesting setting and exciting action.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure is released 26th January 2018.
