Summer is almost here. But that doesn’t mean you can’t spend the occasional evening in, ready to consume all the great stuff that Amazon has to offer this coming June. After all, too much sun is bad for you! Here’s a full rundown…
All or Nothing: New Zealand All Blacks (1st June)
For the first time ever, the legendary All Blacks allow cameras to join them as they face the formidable British & Irish Lions in a showdown that comes around only once every 12 years, as they battle for the 2017 Rugby Championship. The series offers exclusive access to one of the most dominant teams on the planet during one of their most challenging and talked about seasons, taking Prime members inside the locker room, on the field, and into the lives of head coach Steve Hansen and the celebrated players.
Dietland (5th June)
Based on Sarai Walker’s 2015 best-selling, critically-acclaimed novel of the same name, the series follows Plum Kettle’s journey to self-awakening while exploring a multitude of issues faced by women today – including patriarchy, misogyny, rape culture and unrealistic beauty standards. The ten episodes look into the life of Plum, a ghost-writer for the editor of one of New York’s hottest fashion magazines, as she struggles with self-image and embarks on the complicated road to self-acceptance.
Cloak and Dagger (8th June)
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt, Ultimate Spider-Man) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph, The Night Of), two teenagers who are awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart
The Bold Type – Series 2 (13th June)
Inspired by the life of Joanna Coles, former Editor-in-Chief of fashion magazine, Cosmopolitan, and current Chief Content Officer of Hearst Magazines, The Bold Type reveals a glimpse into the outrageous lives and loves of those responsible for the global women’s magazine, Scarlet. The rising generation of Scarlet women lean on one another as they find their own voices in a sea of intimidating leaders. Together, they explore sexuality, identity, love and fashion.
Goliath – Series 2 (15th June)
As Billy, Patty and the team start to investigate what appears to be an open and shut murder case, they begin to untangle a deadly conspiracy in the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles, where drugs, real estate and politics intermingle. Once again, Billy finds himself facing a new Goliath, one that is as formidable as the city’s mayoral race and as tall as the skyline itself.
Preacher – Series 3 (25th June)
In series two, the trio’s pursuit led them to New Orleans, where they dodged local gangsters, dangerous agents, and other unimaginable mayhem on their way to uncovering an even bigger secret. Now, with Tulip’s life and Cassidy’s friendship in the balance, Jesse must rely on a mysterious figure from his past in order to save his friends and continue on with his mission.
Into the Badlands – Series 3 (New episodes every Monday)
With Sunny (Daniel Wu; Tomb Raider) living off the grid and doing his best to provide for his infant son, Henry, in the wake of Veil’s death. It is only when Henry contracts a mysterious illness that Sunny must join forces with Bajie (Nick Frost; Shaun of the Dead) and journey back into the Badlands where The Widow (Emily Beecham; Daphne) and Baron Chau (Eleanor Matsuura; Wonder Woman) are entrenched in a drawn-out war that has destabilised the entire region.
American Idol – Series 16 (New episodes every Tuesday)
Helping to determine who will ultimately become the next singing sensation are music industry forces and superstar judges, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Emmy® Award-winning host and producer Ryan Seacrest returns as host of the beloved series. The Crossing (New episodes Tuesdays)
The Crossing sees refugees from a war-torn country seek asylum in a small American fishing town, only the country these people are from is America – and the war they are fleeing hasn’t happened yet. As the government tries to uncover the truth behind this mysterious migration only one thing is certain: the lives of the people here — both the townspeople and these newcomers — will never be the same.
Famous in Love – Series 2 (New episodes every Wednesday)
Famous in Love stars Bella Thorne as a college student who rockets to superstardom after landing a breakout role in a big-budget blockbuster. Series.2 returns with Paige Townsen, who begins to find her footing in Hollywood as she navigates her newfound fame.
Hap and Leonard – Series 3 (New episodes every Wednesday)
Set in East Texas just before Christmas of 1989, Hap and Leonard scramble to locate Florida Grange who has gone missing in the Klan-infested town of Grovetown. Once again at the centre of an impending storm of Biblical proportion, Hap and Leonard find themselves at odds with a cast of characters so tough they could chew the bumper off a pickup truck, including a possibly corrupt sheriff and the leader of the Caucasian Knights.
